Hotels in Bruges Bruges is a city in north-west Belgium.   It is well loved for its beauty, and is known as the Venice of the North thanks to the many canals that cross the city and give it a special charm.   It has one of the biggest historical quarters in Europe, and it is this medieval centre that represents the city?s biggest attraction, with its well preserved period buildings. Enjoying a pleasant stroll and taking in the Gothic architecture is a real delight. The centre can be easily covered on foot, given that it is completely pedestrianised, but if you prefer a more romantic touch, you can also take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage that takes in all of the main sights. The Burg Square is where you will find the town hall and the Basilica of the Holy Blood, while the Main Square is home to a Gothic bell tower of huge proportions.
