Monteverde is a spectacular wildlife reserve found in Costa Rica; it takes up an area of 10,500 hectares at the top of the Tilarán Mountains.
It is a cloudy forest 172 km from San José, where you will find over 400 different bird species, 490 butterfly species and more than 100 mammal species. You will get to see the Quetzal (named after a bird the Maya considered sacred), where the now extinct golden toad once lived. You can view the tops of the trees from the impressive hanging bridges that delight everyone, both big and small. More than 400 species of orchids add beauty and contrast to an emerald green forest that is covered in ferns of the most incredible species.
You can visit the Bosque Eterno de los Niños (eternal forest of the children), the butterfly garden, the gallery of colibríes, the serpentarium and numerous dream-like locations.

Due to its excellent location the lodge also offers a wonderful view over the Gulf of Nicoya.
