The city of Split is located in the south of Croatia on the Adriatic Sea, and it is an important port and naval base. It is the largest city in the region of Dalmatia and one of the most important on the Adriatic. In 1979, the old town of Split (including the Palace of Diocletian) was declared World Heritage by UNESCO.
Among the city's main attractions is the imposing statue of Gregory of Nin. There is a legend about this which says that touching the statue's big toe means that your wishes will be granted, or it will bring good luck. We also recommend visiting the Palace of Diocletian. This splendid palace is walled and it has three gates made of different materials: gold, iron and bronze. For those who love the outdoors is Mount Marjan. Here there are lovely pine woods, an interesting zoo, picnic areas and you can try different activities like trekking, cycling, climbing and others.
