Platres is a small town in the Republic of Cyprus. It is situated on the southern slopes of the Troodos Mountains.
The town is divided into two parts: Pano Platres (Upper Platres) and Kato Platres (Lower Platres). Pano Platres is considered to be the main holiday destination in the Cyprus mountains, attracting many tourists with its beautiful landscapes and lively nightlife, with the possibility of visiting taverns, restaurants and night clubs.
Lower Platres is a peaceful residential village, with some lovely scenery, about 3 km from the main town centre. Platres is an attractive site for visitors, as it has a relatively cool, pleasant climate in summer, and during the winter months it is a good destination for skiers. The town has some splendid natural surroundings: it is set on the banks of an attractive mountain stream, and the splendid Kaledonian falls can be visited by car or on foot. Platres is certainly not a place to miss out on!
