The city of Angers is in the Département of Maine-et-Loire, in the Pays de la Loire region of France. The city?s unique appeal has gained it the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Angers is home to a wide range of castles, perhaps the most remarkable of which is the Castle of Rene the Good, built in the 13th century. Within the castle walls are several minor buildings of note, including the Chapel of St. Genoveve. We also recommend visiting the Castle of Serrant, which dates back to the 16 th century, the Castle of Montriou (15 th century), the Castle of Plessis-Bourré (15th century), and other beautiful strongholds.
There are also some museums and art galleries in town that are well worth a visit: the Museum of Fine Arts, the Jean Lurçat Museum, which is housed in a 12th century building, and the David d'Angers Gallery. You should also take the time to go and see the Cathedral of St. Maurice of Angers, which was finished in the 11th century and is an excellent example of the Gothic style.
