Annecy is a town in the east of France that is surrounded by hills and mountains, set on the banks of Lake Annecy.
It is a very cultural place, with places to see and festivals to enjoy, for example the International Festival of Animated Cinema, which is generally held during the first days of June. One place that is popular with tourists is the Cathedral of Saint-Pierre, which houses artworks in the Baroque style. One of Annecy's most photographed monuments is the Palais de I?Isle, which was formerly a prison. The Château d'Annecy, which was once home to counts and dukes, is today the Annecy Art and History Conservatory and the regional office of the Alpine Lakes.
The town has many open, green spaces, like parks and gardens. One example of this is the Gardens of Europe, where you can enjoy peace surrounded by nature.
