The town of Passau is located in the Lower Bavaria region of Bavaria, in Germany, close to the border with Austria. Three major rivers converge here: the Danube, the Inn and the Ilz, and so it is known as ?The City of the Three Rivers?. It has a number of attractions, including the fortress of Niederhaus (which dates from the 13th century) on the banks of the River Inn and St Stephen's Cathedral (the seat of the Bishop of Passau). The cathedral is one of Germany's most important religious buildings and it houses one of the world's largest pipe organs.
One of the most beautiful sights here is the convergence of the three rivers, with their different shades. In the town, the green waters of the Inn mix with the Danube's deep blue, and together these flow into the dark waters of the Ilz, providing a view that is unique in the world.
