Trier is a city located in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, on the banks of the River Moselle, in Germany. Trier is considered to be Germany's oldest city, and as such it was declared UNESCO World Heritage in 1986.
We recommend visiting the following tourist sights: the Roman Porta Nigra gate; Constantine's Basilica; the Imperial Baths, the largest Roman baths north of the Alps; and the ancient amphitheatre. Don't miss, either, Trier Cathedral, which has a history that goes back 1650 years, and the Zurlauben river bank area.
The city also has a wide range of museums. Recommended are: the Karl Marx House Museum, the Municipal Museum, the Diocesan Museum and the Cathedral Museum.
