The city of Wurzburg is in the German province of Bavaria. It is the capital of the region of Lower Franconia, and lies on the banks of the Main river.
It is an ancient Episcopal city that transformed itself over the years into a bustling university town, providing it with a wide range of things to see and do. Among its most important attractions is the Residence of the Prince Bishops, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built in the 18th century and has some excellent frescoes created in 1752. We also highly recommend a visit to the Marienburg fortress, which is a symbol of the city, Saint Kilian?s Cathedral, and the Mainbrücke bridge, which spans 180 metres to cross the main. You can also visit some very good museums, some of the best of which are: the Cathedral Museum, the Kulturspeicher Museum, the Mainfränkisch Museum, the Fürstenbaumuseum Museum and the Martin-von-Wagner Museum.
