The Cyclades Islands are an archipelago of Greek islands in the Aegean Sea. There are approximately two hundred and twenty islands, which are like satellites around the sacred island of Delos.
The biggest island is the fertile Naxos, which has many archaeological treasures and a comfortable infrastructure, but the most popular islands are Mykonos and Santorini. However, if you want to claim that you really know the Cyclades, you simply have to visit Serifos, Sifnos, Ios (the smallest), Andros (which has major museums), Síkinos, Amorgos, Paros (which has significant archaeological remains), Tinos, Kithnos, (famous for its thermal waters and restaurants), Folegandros (the quietest), Syros (the capital) and Delos, which has the most valuable historical sites in the Greco-Roman world.
You will find traditional villages mainly made up of white houses in all of the Cyclades Islands. These white houses have doors and window frames in vivid colours, usually blue and flowers on the terraces. The streets are steep and narrow and the turquoise sea is always sparkling in the background. The islands? beaches are ideal for water sports. The scenic ports, bustling with yachts of all sizes add to the wonderful landscape. The nightlife is also vibrant, boasting myriad bars, taverns and night clubs, especially on Santorini and Mykonos.
The only problem with visiting the Cyclades is that you won't be able to decide which beautiful island to stay on!
