Lucca is a city located in Tuscany, Italy.
It is surrounded by a city wall that has remained standing over the centuries, and now that its importance as a fortification has ended, this wall is a pedestrian walkway.
One place that you shouldn't miss here is the house of the composer Puccini, and nearby is the Lago Tower, where the Puccini Opera Festival is held every year. The city is characterised by the large numbers of churches, and among the most important are the Cathedral of San Martino, the church of San Michele de Foro and the San Frediano Basilica. Lucca houses a Roman amphitheatre, one of the city's ancient remains that you shouldn't miss.
