Sardinia is a large Mediterranean island belonging to Italy, and located to the west of this country. It has a very mountainous landscape, and here you can see Europe's deepest canyon, and visit the highest point, Punta La Marmora.
Sardinia has excellent accommodation, including hotels, hostels and campsites, but the bed & breakfasts are perhaps the best option, as you are bound to receive a warm welcome.
Since Italy is the home of the pizza, Sardinia is the place to eat some of the best, since the restaurants here cook them in wood-fired ovens. In the northwest is the Costa Smeralda, with its beautiful clear waters and colourful fish; the largest town on this coast is Olbia, and nearby Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo are popular with Arab magnates and international VIPs. In the area you can see some Nuraghi, stone monuments from the Bronze and Iron Ages. Olbia port is the place to take a boat for an excursion to the Magdalena islands, with their marvellous bays and beaches. The stones of Capo Testa make an excellent place to see the sunset. Don't miss, either, the city of Alghero with its unmissable old town. Sardinia is a slice of paradise, come and visit it!
