Malta is an archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea. It lies between Libya and Italy and is made up of the main island, called Malta, the inhabited islands of Gozo and Comino and the small uninhabited island of Cominotto. The capital of the Republic, located on the east coast of Malta, is La Valetta, a Baroque city with walls and fortifications. We recommend visiting the Castle of Saint Elmo, the Cathedral of St. John and lots of other churches, palaces and museums.
The nightlife is very good. Highlights are St. Julians and Paceville, with numerous bars, clubs, discos, casinos and good restaurants that serve international food.
Enjoy trying some water sports on Mata?s fine beaches of golden sand and crystal clear waters, including diving, snorkelling, windsurfing and sailing. The marinas are full of yachts and really quite spectacular, such as the ones at St. George, St. Pauls and St. Julian, which is home to the most luxurious resorts. The range of accommodation is very good all over the island.
The cliffs and megalithic structures on the island of Gozo are really quite impressive. We recommend visiting the Citadel of Victoria, the Temple of Xaghara and the islands pretty farmhouses. You will be able to stay at a suitably adapted one of these when you visit Malta.
