Ouarzazate is a city in southern Morocco?s Valley of Dadés, which runs through the snow-capped Higher Atlas Mountains. It is considered by many to be the real gateway to the Sahara. Despite being the starting point for a lot of excursions into the desert, your stay in the city itself will be very pleasant and you will soon consider it one of your favourite holiday destinations when you begin to discover its delights.
You will find several film studious in and around Ouarzazate, where famous movies like Lawrence of Arabia, Cleopatra, Gladiator and other classics were shot.

Shopping is another highlight in town, with all kinds of handmade ornaments and goods on sale in the street markets. On the outskirts of the city is the tourist complex of Casbah de Taorirt, which used to be the residence of the ruler of Marrakech. This is essentially a fortified palace built of earth and adobe. You will be fascinated by its little alleys its shops and its air of mystery.
