Rabat is the capital city of the Kingdom of Morocco. It is on the banks of the river Bu Regreg and its coastline is on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. It is a very quite and picturesque imperial city, with an exciting past, where you can see numerous elegant monuments that stand as a testament to the passage of the Phoenicians, Carthaginians and Romans. Strolling along Essouïqa, the main street of Rabat, you come across restaurants and shops selling the traditional textiles and jewellery. When you spot the Great Mulay Sliman Mosque, its beauty will overcome you. If you are looking for Rabatian carpets, go to Souk Tehti in the marketplace, or to Rue des Consuls.
Do not forget to visit the Dar el Makhzen (Royal Palace), the Chellah Necropolis, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, the Hassan Tower, the Hammam, the Mulay Mekki Mosque, the Kasbah des Oudaias, the Archaeological Museum, the Science Museum, the Postal Museum and many other places of interest. You can alternate your sightseeing visits with enjoyable trips to the beaches and the practice of water sports such as swimming, surfing, water skiing, jet skiing and boating.
