The Iate is a small block of apartments just off the main tourist street in Praia da Rocha. It is very inexpensive and has what you need in the way of facilities for a short no frills break. I visited early in the year so the pool facilities weren't available (no problem for me as I was visiting friends in the area). The staff were courteous and helpful and the apartment was clean but very, very basic. That said, it was exactly what I wanted for my short holiday. One litte point - as it is just off the main tourist street it was noisy as people were returning home after a night out. If you want a no-frills apartment at a very reasonable price then the Iate could be just what you are looking for.
 

Renovated in 2004, the hotel comprises a total of 20 apartments spread over 5 floors. Guests are received in the foyer by friendly staff who are also on hand day and night to answer any queries. The lobby additionally comprises a hotel safe and a currency exchange counter and a lift. Dining options within the hotel include a pleasant café and a bar where guests may indulge in refreshments and snacks. The laundry service completes the offerings, and those arriving by car may make use of the hotel car park.

  This apartment hotel is wonderfully situated just 100 metres from the lively town centre and the part shingle, part sand beach. Shopping venues, nightclubs, bars and restaurants are to be found in the vicinity. Links to the public transport network can easily be reached on foot, located around 100 m away. The train station is approximately 3 km from the hotel (40 minutes on foot). Faro airport lies approximately 60 km from the hotel.

The apartments all come with a combined living room/ bedroom, a separate lounge, an en suite bathroom with bathtub and a kitchenette. Also included in the rooms are a direct dial telephone, a TV, a radio, a fridge, a double bed and a hire safe. The temperature in the apartment can be individually adjusted via the heating.
