Puerto Rico (west coast) includes the area from Punta Guanaquilla, on Cabo Rojo, to the River Culebrinas in Aguada. The largest city in the area is Mayagüez, with its port, one of the three most important in Puerto Rico.
Here you can visit the city Zoo, the Proceres Educational Park, Plaza de Colón square, the Llaguez Theatre and stroll along Georgina Morales Boulevard or other picturesque streets with interesting architecture. The local Agricultural Experimental Station is one of the world's most important. Visit the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, the Host Museum and the Town Hall and Casino buildings are worth seeing too.
To the north of Punta Guanajibo, the coast is rocky, with mangroves and corral reefs. This is the perfect area for diving in its crystal-clear waters. Enjoy a sunset from Rincon Bay; its beaches are of white sand and are dotted with palm trees. Boqueron Bay also has heavenly beaches, mangroves and dense tropical vegetation.
You can take a boat and visit the Mona Island Nature Reserve, where turtles and iguanas can be seen on beautiful beaches.
