Cuenca is the capital city of a province with the same name in the Autonomous Community of Castilla-La Mancha, in Spain. The city has been declared a UNESCO world heritage site and is one of the candidates to be the European capital of culture during the year 2016.
The city is full of monuments with great historical and architectural value, one of the highlights is the cathedral, considered a national monument, it has a Gothic design and its construction began in the 13th century. We also remind you to visit the Church of San Pedro (which dates back to the 17th century), the town hall (18th century), which has a Baroque facade, and also provides the arches that welcome people into the Plaza Mayor (main square), the nucleus of the old quarter. Likewise, we advise you to visit the hermitage of the Virgen de las Angustias , and the hanging houses, built in the 14th century, which nowadays house the museum of abstract art.
