 Impressed with the hotel - room cleaniness was excellent, breakfast was excellent, staff spoke good english and were very efficient. Hotel location good also. Lack of tea/coffee making facilities in room was only downside.
 

Hotel description

Constructed in 2006, this design hotel retains the traditional style of the 19th century and is ideally suited for both long and short stays. The hotel has a distinctive personality, and has been decorated by the famous interior designer Tomás Alía in an avant-garde style, where guests may enjoy open spaces that recall the New York loft style accommodation. On offer at this air-conditioned establishment are a total of 36 rooms including standard and executive rooms as well as a duplex penthouse suite. Facilities include a lobby area with a reception desk manned around the clock, lift access, a hotel safe, an Internet connection with WLAN, a breakfast room, coin-operated washing machines, and a parking garage for those arriving by car (charges apply).

This hotel is located on the Plaza de las Descalzas Reales, only about 30 m from the Plaza Mayor, the Puerta del Sol, and the Teatro Real. Within an area of around 500 m from the hotel, guests will find the cultural and business centres of Madrid, as well as links to the underground network and further public transport. The famous Reina Sofía Museum lies approximately 2 km away, it is around 4 km to the nearest railway station, while Barajas airport lies some 13 km from the hotel.

Leave the A2 motorway in the direction of Centro Ciudad and follow the Avenida de América as far as Paseo de La Castellana. Here, turn left in the direction of Plaza de Cibeles. Drive as far as Alcalá street and then turn off to the right. From here, follow the road over the Puerta del Sol and Areal as far as San Martín street, then turn right to arrive at the Plaza de Las Descalzas. By underground: take line 8 from Barajas to Nuevos Ministerios, from there line 10 to Alonso Martínez and then line 5 to Opera.
