Orense (Ourense) is the capital city of the province of the same name in Spain?s Autonomous Community of Galicia. Among the city?s main sights is Ourense Cathedral, which was declared a National Monument in 1931. The cathedral dates back to the 12th century and was built in several different architectural styles: Neo-Classical, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Romanesque.
Other interesting sights to see are the Old Bridge over the Miño, one of the city?s symbolic landmarks, the gothic Church of San Francisco (built in the 14th century), the Old Episcopal Palace (12th century), which shows traces of different architectural styles, such as Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance, and which is currently used as the home of the Provincial Archeological Museum. The palace was declared a Cultural Heritage Site in 1931. You should also make time to go and see the Las Burgas springs, the perfect place to take the waters and relax.
